Nintendo is once again pushing the "what's old is new again" angle when it comes to video games. 

A modern version of the classic Nintendo Entertainment System is coming to stores just in time for the 2016 holiday season. 

“We wanted to give fans of all ages the opportunity to revisit Nintendo’s original system and rediscover why they fell in love with Nintendo in the first place,” said Nintendo of America President and COO Reggie Fils-Aime said in a company press release published on Business Wire.

Gamers can relive the thrill of playing 30 of their favorite games such as "The Legend of Zelda", "Pac-Man", "Metroid" and "Donkey Kong." All of the games are built right into the system — no cartridges necessary.

The Classic NES Mini will have have a suggested retail price of $59.99. Each game system comes complete with the unit with the games, an AC adapter, an HDMI cable and one NES Classic Controller. Gamers can purchase a second controller for $9.99.

Nintendo's press release also said the NES Classic Controllers can be connected to Wii remote controllers to play Virtual Console NES games on the Wii U or Wii system.
