Shoppers at a Wisconsin supermarket were startled to see a deer amongst them Friday night.

Police in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin tell TODAY'S TMJ4 that two deer were outside a strip mall at about 7 p.m. and one of them saw his reflection in the window of a store and injured himself.

As the deer walked away, the injured animal wandered into the Piggly Wiggly supermarket and sat down in an aisle.

Officials with the Department of Natural Resources arrived and removed the deer, but unfortunately the animal's injuries were too severe and it needed to be put down.

Judy Hirt was at the store and took pictures of the injured animal. She calls it the worse thing she has ever experienced "seeing a beautiful animal of nature in such pain needing help," and said she just wanted to go and hug him.
