Train hero cheered in nightclub before stabbing

Posted

More details are coming out in the early Thursday stabbing of an international hero in his California hometown.

Airman Spencer Stone was stabbed near a Sacramento nightclub earlier this week. Stone was one of three Americans who helped subdue a gunman on a train in France in August.

Before Stone was stabbed, he was greeted with cheers when he entered Badlands nightclub, according to Ron Schaefer, club promoter.

"Everybody went crazy and we were excited he was here," he said.

When Stone and his group of friends left the bar and met another group outside. Police said it appears everything escalated when Stone stepped in to defend a woman who had been punched.

Police are still looking for two suspects in the case. They hope someone will talk, given the international interest in the case.
