Nine days after opening on Oct. 10, the first Chick-fil-A restaurant in the United Kingdom says it will close the location within six months, the Washington Post reports.
The news comes after protests outside the brand-new location at the Oracle Mall in Reading from an LGBTQ group denouncing the company's opposition to same-sex marriage, the paper says.

A mall spokesperson told the BBCthat the company would not be allowed to stay beyond its initial “six-month pilot period,” calling it the “right thing to do.” Chick-fil-A says it had always planned to operate there for only a limited time.
The same spokesperson says the six-month lease with the mall is "part of a longer term strategy for us as we look to expand our international presence.”
