Eskimo Pie ice cream has joined the list of products that will have a new name soon.
Aunt Jemima and Uncle Ben’s recently came under fire because of their names and marketing strategies.
According to CNN, the head of marketing for Dreyer’s Grand Ice Cream told CNN that the company is aware that the ice cream’s name is derogatory.
The name “Eskimo” is used to refer to the Inuit and Yupik people in Alaska. It is considered derogatory because it was given to the people of Alaska by racist, non-native colonizers.
The packaging features a small, dark-haired child wearing mittens and a heavy parka.
