A Lakeland man is accused of carjacking a woman and going on a shoplifting spree that included stealing milk and cookies.
Roger Smith, 43, also told deputies he planned to rob every dope dealer in Lakeland to “teach them a lesson,” according to a Polk County Sheriff’s Office arrest report.
Smith was driving his father’s car Wednesday morning when he entered the Murphy Express gas station at 6801 N. Church Ave. in Mulberry, deputies said. He’s accused of pushing a woman as she tried to enter her car and telling her to “have a [expletive] good day!”
Deputies arrested Smith in the parking lot of 3929 S. Florida Ave. in Lakeland, according to the report. He ran a red light before his arrest, deputies said, crashing into another vehicle.
Deputies said Smith told them he didn’t remember pushing the woman and couldn’t remember what happened next. They said he did remember to going to other gas stations to steal milk and cookies.
He also told them he stole a head lamp and pliers from a Dollar General, deputies said. He began entering cars in the Wendy’s parking lot, but construction workers at the restaurant stopped him.
Smith is charged with carjacking.
