Las Vegas native Andre Agassi was in Washington, D.C., Tuesday for the opening of a new charter school.
The tennis great is part of a foundation that creates urban charter schools nationwide.
The D.C. campus of Rocketship Charter School includes 26 classrooms, a gym and two cafeterias. According to WJLA in Washington, D.C., the school opened in August but had its official opening Tuesday.
"This is what it's all about," Agassi said. "Tennis allowed me to effect people for a couple of hours and after tennis and at this stage in my life I get to effect people for hopefully generations. It's really rewarding."
School officials say they hope to have up to 800 students -- pre-kindergarten through fifth grade.
