You can now check out an American Girl doll at several Clark County libraries thanks to a new grant gifted program.
Right now, 19 of the 25 libraries across the county have stocked their shelves with different American Girl dolls, and the toys have already proven to live up to their popularity.
"We put them out on Friday, and by Saturday afternoon they were all gone," said librarian Kristy Gibson.
American Girl dolls are known to be popular among 8 to 10 year olds and can run a parent more than $100 on the shelves.
The one thing that is different about these dolls is the fact that they are made up of different ethnicities and come with a book detailing the doll's history.
The book explains the era the doll is from as well as touching on different subjects, such as war, slavery, and immigration.
"It's a way to explore, especially in today's society, it is very nice to explore something that may be different than you," Gibson said.
All you need is a library card to check out a doll for up to three weeks.
