A Las Vegas mom is angry at her son's daycare not for what happened, but for what she says didn't happen.
Ashley Johnson said when she got her son at Kidz Preschool last week, she was shocked by what she saw in his sippy cup.
"When I opened the lid up, and I took the plastic piece out, there was milk mildew in there that looked like it had been sitting for a few days," Johnson said. "And so I brought it up to the front desk, took some pictures and brought it to their attention."
Johnson said the manager told her the teacher had forgotten to rinse the cup out the night before.
"I was upset because it was so clogged up he couldn't drink out of it," said Johnson.
"So he was going out every day in this hot temperature either drinking mildew or not being able to drink at all because it was so packed in there, so it upsets me," she said. "That's the health and safety of my son. This is the first time I've ever left him so it was heartbreaking."
13 Action News called Kidz Preschool's corporate office. They said there was no mold in the cup, and they rinse the cups every night but do not clean them. They told us it's the parents' responsibility to thoroughly wash all their child's things.
However, Johnson is not the first person to complain about cleanliness.
We did some digging of our own and reached out to the Nevada Division of Public and Behavioral Health.
According to their records, Kidz Preschool on Tropicana Avenue had four unconfirmed complaints from 2011 to 2014.
In September of 2013, a complaint indicated the facility had mold and dirty carpets.
In order to help Johnson wash away bad feelings, the preschool did offer the mother a discount.
