Wynn Las Vegas, Circus Circus shedding employees weeks after reopening

LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Both Circus Circus and Wynn Las Vegas have notified employees that they are being laid off or furloughed.

Neither hotel-casino would provide an exact number of employees to 13 Action News.

The Circus Circus sent the following statement:

Circus Circus Las Vegas has had to assess and make business decisions in order to effectively operate during these uncertain times. We hope that business volumes will recuperate sufficiently so that most of our employees can get back to work in the near future.

Wynn Las Vegas sent the following:

Although we retained all of our people while we were closed, we now know how challenged business volumes in Las Vegas are and are staffing to the significantly reduced demand.

Wynn Las Vegas, who paid all of their employees through May 31 before being allowed to reopen, says that their affected employees are mostly being furloughed.

It is not known what positions are being cut or exactly when the layoffs or furloughs will begin. Wynn Las Vegas did say that their employees would continue to receive benefits through Oct. 31.
