An elderly woman was rescued from a balcony after a fire Saturday afternoon.

The Clark County Fire Department responded around 2:45 p.m. to the fire in the 3000 block of Phoenix Street, near Vegas Valley and McLeod drives. Upon arrival, personnel reported a two-story house with the smoke coming from the structure.

Incoming units were told an elderly woman was trapped by the fire on the balcony.

Crews brought a ladder to the second story and rescued the occupant and simultaneously made an offensive attack putting the fire out in approximately 10 minutes. The fire was found in the kitchen.

The occupant was evaluated on scene and did not get transported. Firefighters were also able to locate and remove the pets from the home.

The fire is currently under investigation. Damages have been estimated at $25,000.
