Washington couple survives 1 October shooting, suffers shooting death of therapy dog

Posted

A Washington couple that survived the 1 October shooting says they're not dealing with the death of their therapy dog, after a neighbor shot and killed it.

The Johnson's got their Labradoodle less than a year ago to help them deal with PTSD.  The couple was at the Route 91 Harvest Music Festival when shots were fired, and their cousin was shot.

The Labradoodle, Jax, was helping them cope with that horrible night.

Now, they're dealing with Jax's death.  According to police, a neighbor shot and killed Jax after he claimed the dog was chasing his chickens.  Investigators say there's no evidence any of the chickens were harmed.  The neighbor has been cited for recklessly discharging his gun.
