Warm weather brings out critters around the valley

With temperatures hitting 100 degrees for the first time this year, the weather is also bringing out critters invading homes around the valley.

Rats, scorpions, and bugs have made their way into homes.  Trent English with Truly Nolen says he's been seeing more calls than usual.

"We had all these roach egg capsules just sitting there waiting and now everything is hatching and exploding and out in the open right now," he says.

When it comes to large rats, English says they often make their up trees that hang near roofs, and make their way in that way.

Scorpions tend to find their way in through gaps in your windows or doorway.

Problem Areas for Rats:

Anywhere with a lot of tree cover, these neighborhoods in particular have seen a lot of problems with rats:

The Lakes

- Rhodes Ranch

- Desert Shores

Problem Areas for Scorpions:

English says he sees scorpions all around the valley, but the one exception is the area near Nellis.  He says that may be because of the vibrations from jets taking off.

English's advice is to make sure you check your roofing, and also the entrances to your house to see if there are any gaps.
