Venues prepared to host fans when things get hot outside

June 4 is the hottest day on record so far for 2018, but that is not stopping fans of the Vegas Golden Knights.

There are 3 major watch parties happening today. They are taking place at the T-Mobile Arena, Downtown Las Vegas Events Center and Henderson Pavilion.

Originally, all 3 of the parties were outside. But, it was decided to open the T-Mobile Arena to fans because of the heat and the lack of shade and cooling features at Toshiba Plaza.

The Downtown Las Vegas Events Center already had a plan in place though. They are no strangers to hosting events in the heat.

Derek Stevens, owner of D Las Vegas, says they have had a team in place for a number of years who are pretty active in terms of watching out for people.

He told 13 Action News that DLVEC is designed to withstand soaring temperatures in the summer. They have plenty of misters and more.

People were lining up a couple of hours in the heat before the doors opened at T-Mobile. One fan said that his family was waiting in the garage while he stood in line outside.

Although we did not visit the Henderson Pavilion, we know that it is covered and should provide plenty of shade for hockey fans.

Of course, it is important to drink water and stay safe whether or not you are in direct sunlight when the temperatures start to soar.
