LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — There are volunteers. And then there’s Daniel Fludd.
“From handling pallets, from getting food, from helping prepare the food, a lot of odd jobs really," said Fludd.
Daniel doesn’t just do a lot of jobs. He does those jobs often - five days a week, sometimes for more than eight hours a day. Without reliable transportation, Daniel often walks the mile and a half to and from the food bank - just to volunteer.
“I have a big heart, really. But I also really, really want to help children," Fludd.
Daniel’s mission to help children and his big heart are rooted in the same place.
“Believe it or not, it comes from my mom," said Fludd. "She has a big heart too. She actually works for mental disability children. She helps them out with all kinds of odd jobs that we would be able to do. Like how we’re able to bathe, eat and do all kinds of stuff, there are some kids who can’t even do that.”
Daniel and his mom’s big hearts beat for children - devoting their own lives to serving some of the most vulnerable in our community. In just the last five months, Daniel has volunteered more than 500 hours. A chef describes Daniel as the nicest person you’ll ever meet. Ask Daniel? He’ll says he’s an everyday person.
“I used to, you know, read about super heros in comics. And you know, they do all these amazing things and they fly and blah blah blah blah. For me, you don’t really need to wear a costume to be a superhero - super heros are everyday people," said Fludd.
Daniel doesn’t wear a costume, but he certainly is a superhero - dedicating his time, energy and passion to helping make sure his fellow neighbors don’t go hungry. That’s why he is our Vegas Stronger Champion.
