LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Las Vegas residents are encouraged to clear out their medicine cabinets on Oct. 26 for National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.
Unused and expired medicine can be dropped off from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. anonymously for safe disposal during the one-day event at the following locations:
-Smith's - 8555 West Sahara Ave.
-Smith’s - 10600 Southern highlands Pkwy.
-Henderson Police West Substation - 300 S. Green Valley Pkwy
-LVMPD Enterprise Area Command – 6975 W Windmill Lane
-LVMPD Northwest Area Command – 9850 W Cheyenne Ave
-LVMPD Southeast Area Command – 3675 E. Harmon Ave.
-LVMPD Spring Valley Area Command- 8445 Eldora Ave.
-North Las Vegas Police Dept. – 3755 W Washburn Ave,
-Walmart - 1807 W Craig Road
-Walmart – 8060 W. Tropical Pkwy.
-Desert Vista Community Center- 10360 Sun City Blvd.
Those who are dropping of their prescription or over-the-counter drugs are asked to black out names and addresses on the bottles before taking them to the event.
Pet medications are also acceptable items, but needles, aerosols and liquids are not, according to authorities.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department recommends cleaning out home medicine cabinets, as well as keeping current medications secure, in order to prevent potential substance abuse.
