UPDATE: Coroner identifies woman killed in fire near Jones, US-95

UPDATE: OCT. 28: The Clark County Coroner's office identified the woman killed in a house fire at 241 View Drive earlier this month as 63-year-old Carla White.

UPDATE OCT. 24: Las Vegas fire officials reported one of the victims in the blaze has passed away while a second remained in critical condition at the University Medical Center.

LAS VEGAS (KTNV) -- Las Vegas Fire and Rescue units responded to a Friday morning house fire where two people were critically injured.

The blaze started at about 9:45 a.m. at a home located at 241 View Drive, near Jones Boulevard and US-95. Fire crews were sent to the house after witnesses called reporting heavy smoke from the residence.

When firefighters arrived, thick smoke and flames could be seen coming from the one-story home. There were also reports of one person injured by the fire with another person still inside the house, according to fire officials.

Firefighters found the first victim outside suffering from critical burns to the front side of his body. He was transported to the University Medical Center.

The other victim was located in a rear bedroom of the home. She had superficial burns to her arms and appeared to be suffering from smoke inhalation. She was also taken to UMC.

Las Vegas firefighters had the flames under control in approximately 45 minutes but the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The blaze caused $75,000 in damage to the home, according to Las Vegas fire.
