T-Mobile Arena is apologizing to fans and has refunded about 500 people their tickets to a USA Basketball game last week.

MGM Resorts International, which owns the months-old facility, on Tuesday called Friday's incident an "unacceptable situation."

Officials said thousands of people bought their tickets to the 6 p.m. exhibition game against Argentina from third-party vendors, including a large number of Groupon sales.

A bottleneck resulted when they all had to pick up their tickets to the sold-out event on site, creating long lines that lasted well past tip-off.

MGM spokeswoman Mary Hynes said that many of those customers were inside the game or had been offered refunds by the second quarter. The company said it's reviewing the "unusual" circumstances that created the bottleneck to prevent it from happening again.
