LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — The UNLV Athletics Department has anounced they will stop using the "Hey Reb!" logo and will only the use UNLV arch logo from now on.

A spokesperson for the department say no new items with the new mark are being approved through the licensing process and that a potential new logo will be evaluated in upcoming apparel contract negotiations.

The logo was changed after people expressed concern about the original logo because of alleged Confderate ties.

The school's original mascot, Beauregard, was voted out in the '70s because of its racial implications.

Hey Reb! was meant to represent the mountain men of the 1800s.

The logo was redesigned in June 2017. However, many people didn't like the new logo either.
