Unique program at Rancho HS helps students soar

The aviation and robotics program at Rancho High School is paving the way for kids who are interested in entering the growing drone industry.

Students are able to learn how to build, fly and maintain the unmanned aircraft.

The Silver State hopes to see increased production of drones. Nevada was recently designated an FAA testing site and better tax rates for aviation maintenance were approved during the last legislative session.

The school invited local industry leaders to check out the program on Thursday. So far, nearly 150 industry leaders and professionals have visited the school to check out the program.

The classroom at Rancho High School is far from typical, which is exactly what industry leaders want.
