Officials are predicting traffic snarls during the weekend when traffic is detoured around a key Las Vegas-area freeway closure near McCarran International Airport.

Clark County officials say the 215 Beltway will be shut down Friday night in both directions to allow workers to place heavy steel girders for an exit overpass at the Airport Connector.

The ramp from the connector to Sunset Road also will be closed.

The 215 Beltway is expected to reopen by 5 a.m. Monday.

Officials say the bridge will eventually carry traffic from the airport access tunnel connector to the eastbound Beltway.

Motorists leaving the airport will be able to go west from the connector to the Beltway, toward the Las Vegas Strip.

Motorists heading east, toward Henderson, will need to use alternate routes.
