Tiny bugs invade Northern Nevada neighborhood

Posted

Millions of tiny bugs are invading a Northern Nevada neighborhood.

The tiny pests are called false chinch bugs and are being found in Spanish Springs, near Reno.

The Morris family has lived in their home in the neighborhood for 25 years and they've never seen anything like this.

"I hope that these things will go away... cause I'd sure have to replace everything on my patio," Lance Morris said.

Experts say don't both spraying pesticides or repellant because the bugs will probably come back.

The bugs likely showed up at the Morris home because they lost their food source.

The good news -- the bugs are harmless, they rarely bite and they don't carry diseases.
