LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — 3,000 students are moving into the residence halls at UNLV today.
Professional movers will be on site to help students bring their belongings out of the heat and into their new homes.
4,300 students decided to become a Rebel this year, which is a record amount of new students for UNLV.
More than 80 percent of students are Nevada residents, but there's a good portion of students from California and Hawaii as well.
Set move-in times are purposely staggered throughout the day to make sure things run as smoothly as possible.
"We've done this for over 50 years now, so we've kind of got it down to a science, we like to think" said Orlando White, Assistant Director of Residential Education.
After a long day of moving, families are likely going to get hungry. Spots near campus like Aloha Kitchen are counting on the increase in sales.
"We depend a lot on the traveling families that come to town so we look forward to when schools starts up again," said Travis Contenplo, manager of Aloha Kitchen. "It keeps business flowing and our sales pick up."
