Some Las Vegas neighborhoods are still seeing a ton of scorpions in and around their house despite it being mid-September.
13 Action News went on a Scorpion Hunt with Red Rock Pest Control in a neighborhood in northwest Las Vegas and found multiple scorpions as soon as the sun went down.
One of the homeowners on the street said he almost sold his house because of how many he was seeing.
"One of my family members got bit," he said.
The man's wife was stung while she was sleeping and had to be rushed to the ER because she had an allergic reaction.
The family then hired a professional pest control company and they started to see the problem go away after a few months.
Red Rock Pest Control says they usually stop getting so many scorpion calls around this time of year but it hasn't slown down yet.
"I don't see anything stopping right now," said Dustin Banks with Red Rock Pest Control.
One reason could be because of the higher than normal temperatures we've been having.
Scorpions like neighborhoods with a lot of landscaping including a lot of rocks so they can hide underneath during the day.
If you want to get rid of your scorpion problem entirely, you will need a professional service but it doesn't hurt to buy a blacklight flashlight. You can get one for $5 at Walmart or a more powerful one for around $25 at Home Depot.
