LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — A new art piece was placed at Fashion Show Mall on Saturday, hoping to be a beacon of light for the Las Vegas community.
The Heartfullness Vegas Sculpture was created by artist Katy Boynton, and hopes to embody the strength and resiliency of Las Vegas following 1 October.
Before its creation, she spent time actually listening to the stories of locals who where in town when the tragedy happened, to help her construct the mended heart.
“They all told us their story of what happened that day and how it effected them, and it just solidified to me how important this was,” says Boynton.
An emotional dedication ceremony on the steps of Fashion Show Mall Saturday night.
“That's what people will take away when they see this, not just some art piece in a shopping center they will really see it as something intended to be a symbol of healing,” says Boynton.
