A new study by GOBankingRates says that Nevada is the most expensive state to get a speeding ticket.

The fines in Nevada are 3 times more than any other state in the country, according to their study. The average cost in Nevada is $1,000.

The maximum fine in Nevada can run into four digits, even for first-time speeders.

The state with the next highest cost is Alaska. First-time speeding offenses carry a maximum penalty of $300.

The state of Oklahoma had the lowest average of just $20.
