Steve Wynn gives keynote address at gambling conference

He is the man behind some of the most famous casinos in the world, but Tuesday during a walk down memory lane, Steve Wynn said gambling is just a fraction of what makes his business stand out.

"One roulette table is exactly the same as every other roulette table, a little bit of fabric with red and black numbers on it," the CEO of Wynn Resorts said during his keynote address at the International Conference on Gambling and Risk Taking.

"The power is in the service, the people, the restaurants. All that other stuff," Wynn said.

Part of that other stuff is the nightlife, and believe it or not, Wynn doesn't get the appeal.

"I walk into the club and I say to myself either we have attracted every moron in the world or there is something about the sound that allows normal people to check their human sensibilities at the door."

Regardless, the billionaire knows it's not about him, it's about his guests.

"Give the folks what they want and you'll be a winner," Wynn said.

That is the main message Wynn had today. He built his empire on customer service, and that's what he says will keep Las Vegas at the top.

"Enhanced self-esteem is the most powerful energy source on the planet and when you're running a business or leading an organization or trying to be president of the United States try and remember that. It trumps everything else. No pun intended," Wynn said.
