Officials urge Nevada drivers to stay alert as the school year begins.
With school starting on Monday, school zone laws apply.
"You're not going to get a break folks," said one Las Vegas police officer. "If you're going over the speed limit in a school zone you're going to get a ticket, and it's going to be a hefty fine."
Drivers should be on the lookout for 15 mph and 25 mph speed limits during school hours. Also, drivers shouldn't pass other cars and avoid making U-Turns in school zones.
