LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — The CEO of Southwest Airlines says the company tested non-stop flights from Oakland, CA to Honolulu, HI last week and Las Vegas could be next, according to the Las Vegas Review Journal.
Southwest says the flight was the carrier's first ever touchdown in the Hawaiian Islands.

Southwest says the test flights were part of the authorization process with the Federal Aviation Administration to offer future scheduled service to Hawaii.
Regardless of direct flights between Hawaii and Las Vegas, the CEO expects the valley to see an increase in Hawaiian visitors if non-stop flights are approved for Oakland or San Diego.
The reasoning, he says, is that visitors will only need to take one more quick flight to reach the valley.
