LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — A self-defense instructor is fed up with kidnappings, sexual assaults, and attempted abductions occurring to minors in Las Vegas.

Considering those incidents, Shannon Langwell, owner of Nomad Krav Maga will host a free self-defense workshop on anti-abduction techniques and awareness.

The event will be held on Feb. 17 from 1:00 p.m to 2:00 p.m. at 5597 S Rainbow Blvd Suite #170.

Registering online is required -roughly 50 kids have signed up as of Wednesday.

"I just can't fathom the lengths of these sociopaths, these criminals, will go to hurt their target. They get some sort of power from that," said Langwell.

Langwell told 13 Action News it’s important for kids to understand what situational awareness is and know how to defend themselves.

"We are going to go through the vulnerable anatomy. No matter how big a guy is, they cannot condition their eyeballs, their throat, their groin. We are going to teach people how to target those," said Langwell.

He said he hopes his free course makes a positive impact in the community.

"We want to make sure [kids] are the hardest targets possible. Through training they'll become hard targets so that they're not easily abducted, not easily taken away," said Langwell.
