Third Roberto's location robbed on Wednesday

A suspect robbed a Roberto's Taco Shop Wednesday morning. This is the third location burglarized in 24 hours.

Around 3:37 a.m. a black male suspect entered the business near Charleston Boulevard and Rainbow Boulevard. He pointed a handgun at the cashier and demanded money from the register.

The suspect obtained $300-$400. He was last seen running across Rainbow Boulevard.

Police say the incident may be connected to two Roberto's robberies yesterday; the first was near Cactus Avenue and Decatur Boulevard, the second was near Hacienda Avenue and Decatur Boulevard. So far a connection has not been established.

Police say they are comparing surveillance footage from the crimes to determine if they involved the same suspect.

13 Action News Crime and Safety Expert and former Las Vegas Police Lt. Randy Sutton says 24-hour businesses are vulnerable to overnight robberies, because there are not many large crowds overnight to discourage criminals.

"They pick a time when there aren't that many people in there and that lessens their risk," Sutton said.

Sutton said he expects police will pay extra attention to those types of businesses until the robber is caught.
