Search and Rescue crews responded to the Lake Mead National Recreation Area early Monday morning to a report of a man who injured himself along the Gold Strike Trail.
At 1:15 a.m., the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department was notified. The man reportedly sustained an injury to his head and leg after jumping from a 6-foot elevation while hiking on the trail about 1 1/2 to 2 miles from the trail head. Police reported around 5:50 a.m. that the hiker was located and rescued.
This is the second rescue along the Gold Strike Trail this month.
