UPDATE: Palo Verde High School and Sig Rogich Middle School were cleared from soft lockdowns after a shooting involving a police offer occurred in the area.

During a press conference, a police captain told members of the media that detectives were looking for an individual wanted for felony violent crimes. They located him at a house in the area.

During an attempt to escape, the suspect rammed a car into a police vehicle. The detectives opened fire.

The suspect was transported to UMC Trauma in critical condition.

The detectives involved will be placed on administrative leave with pay while the shooting is investigating. Their names will be released in 48 hours.

A mother who has a son at Rogich Middle School says parents were not informed about the ordeal.

"I was freaking out. I was texting my other friend who was able to talk to her daughter, and she was like we're all on this hard lockdown right now. We're not supposed to be on our phones and all that." said concerned mom Leila.

According to both schools, the lockdowns were lifted at about 10:15 a.m.
