If you have a peer-to-peer cash app on your phone, you may want to check your settings. A new scam is targeting anybody with apps, like Venmo.
The scam starts when a stranger approaches you on the street, and asks to borrow your phone to make a quick call. Instead of typing in a phone number, he finds a cash app and does a quick transfer to his account.
SCAM ALERT: Do you use a cash app on your phone, like Venmo? Go into settings, security, and set up a pin! This could protect you from the latest scam. More info on @KTNV website. pic.twitter.com/RoDV83IhDj

To protect yourself, go into the app settings and scroll down to security to set up a pin. This will ensure you'll be the only one to access the app.
Another way to protect yourself, with whatever cash app you use, the Better Business Bureau says to only link your account to a credit card. Credit cards will almost always reimburse you for fraud.
