HENDERSON (KTNV) — Police in Henderson say to watch out for an email scam that appears to come from a utility company like NV Energy.

Authorities say several people have received emails asking to collect past due payments by calling a phone number.

Once you call you are asked to go to an ATM to deposit money into an account using a unique barcode.

Police say if you receive an email like that, simply delete it.

NV Energy has confirmed it will never send emails to anyone with account information. Any real email from NV Energy will ask you to contact the company directly.
