Gov. Brian Sandoval says he'll call the Nevada Legislature into special session next week to consider publicly funding an NFL stadium in Las Vegas that could be home to the Raiders.

The Republican governor announced Wednesday that the session will begin at 8 a.m. on Monday. A formal proclamation and agenda are scheduled for release on Sunday.

Sandoval says Las Vegas has a chance to usher in a new era for tourism with the stadium, as well as with a recommended convention center expansion and more police hires.

He says he'll also ask lawmakers to tweak the hotel tax to cover an expected shortfall in public education funding.

He said there's not enough time in the special session to find a funding mechanism for the voucher-style Education Savings Accounts program.
