Elvis Presley died on Aug. 16, 1977
On this day in 1977 the world lost an icon. Elvis Presley, the King of Rock 'n' Roll, died on Aug. 16, 1977. Presley was one of the most successful entertainers in Las Vegas. Clark County reports he sold out 837 consecutive shows over a seven-year period, between 1969 and 1976, in Sin City.
