Nevada Senator Harry Reid today announced $11,907,786 in U.S. Department of Transportation Grants to improve and modernize airports throughout the Silver State.
The grants will fund projects at Las Vegas’ McCarran International, Ely/Yelland Field, Carson City, Henderson Executive, Fallon Municipal, Austin and Mesquite Airports.
Grant Breakdown:
McCarran International Airport, $4,800,000: This grant will fund the reconstruction of 38,700 square yards of the existing holding apron pavement that has reached the end of its useful life.
Ely/Yelland Field Airport, $2,849,476: This grant will fund reconstruction of 6,018 feet of the Runway 18/36 pavement that has reached the end of its useful life. It will also provide funding for phase 3 of a 4 phase project and includes the reconstruction of approximately 1,500 feet of the runway and the rehabilitation of 20,850 square yards of the existing apron to maintain structural integrity of the pavement.
Carson City Airport, $2,454,684: This grant will fund the rehabilitation of airport apron pavement.
Henderson Executive Airport, $835,680: This grant will fund the rehabilitation of 100,500 square yards of the existing north terminal aircraft parking apron to maintain structural integrity of the pavement and the reconstruction of 37,200 square yards of the existing southeast terminal aircraft parking apron pavement that has reached the end of its useful life.
Fallon Municipal, $588,750: This grant will fund the rehabilitation of 4,207 feet of Runway 13/31 to maintain the structural integrity of the surface and to minimize foreign object debris.
Austin Airport, $225,446: This grant will fund an update to the existing airport master plan study to show current and future needs of the airport.
Mesquite Airport, $153,750: This grant will fund the engineering design for a project to install 16,600 feet of perimeter fence to protect the airport from unauthorized and inadvertent entry and wildlife hazards.
