Nevada lawmakers have approved a record amount of money -- $357,000 -- for security for this year's New Year's Eve celebrations in Las Vegas.
That is about triple of the amount approved last year, according to Las Vegas Review-Journal.
This is also first year that Department of Homeland Security has given NYE a special event assessment rating of 1, which is typically reserved for major events like the Super Bowl.
