LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Chicago-area Rapper Juice WRLD has died at age 21 after what authorities describe as a "medical emergency" at Midway International Airport.

Last month, he performed at the Day N Vegas music festival at the Las Vegas Festival Grounds.

Juice WRLD also performed in Las Vegas at iHeartRadio Music Festival in September and at The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel and Casino's 10 anniversary show in April.

In May he was named top new artist at the 2019 Billboard Music Awards.

Chicago police are investigating his death. An autopsy is likely to be performed on Monday.

The artist got his start on SoundCloud and then became a streaming juggernaut.

He rose to the top of the charts with the Sting-sampled hit "Lucid Dreams."

He was from the Chicago suburb of Homewood where he stood out as a talented high school musician.
