HENDERSON (KTNV) — Monday was a big day in Henderson, and a big day for the Raiders.
The team held a groundbreaking ceremony for its headquarters located in the south part of town.
The facility will be next to the Henderson Executive Airport, near St. Rose Parkway.
Commercial and residential development has already been shown in that area in anticipation of the new team HQ and businesses is expected to continue to grow.
The new Raiders facility will have office space, a gym, an outdoor pool, and three practice fields.
Raiders alumni say the team is not just looking forward to being welcomed into Henderson but also to welcome the city into the Raiders family.
The new facility is scheduled to open in 2020 with the new Las Vegas stadium scheduled to be completed at the end of July that same year.
