LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Las Vegas police say a woman has died at the hospital almost a week after she was involved in a critical crash in the southern part of the valley.
Police said previously they suspected she was impaired.
On April 2, authorities say 36-year-old Lakesha Gooden of Las Vegas succumbed to her injuries sustained during the crash on March 27.
On the night of the crash, witnesses told police they saw the Lexus driven by Gooden veer off the road on Windmill Lane near Carob Way and hit a brick wall. It then reentered the roadway and hits a Dodge Charger, police say.
A third car, a Mercedes Benz, was also damaged in the crash after bricks from the wall were thrown across the scene, police say.
Gooden was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the car, according to officers. She was rushed to the hospital.
The drivers of the Mercedes and Dodge remained at the scene and did not show signs of impairment, according to authorities.
Her death marks the 25th traffic related death in Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department's for the year 2020.
The crash remains under investigation.
