UPDATE: Around 8 a.m. Wednesday the suspicious package at Northwest Area Command was determined to be safe.
ORIGINAL STORY
Officers set up a perimeter around a Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department substation near Grand Canyon Drive and Cheyenne Avenue around 6 a.m. Wednesday.
Around 5:45 a.m., the LVMPD investigated a suspicious package that was left in front of the Northwest Area Command located at 9850 West Cheyenne. As a precaution, Cheyenne Avenue was closed between Grand Canyon Drive and Hualapai Way.
LVMPD's ARMOR Unit was on scene to determine if the package posed any threat.
