Police seek attempted carjacker after deadly hit-and-run crash south of M Resort

LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Police officers in the Las Vegas valley are looking for an attempted carjacker after authorities say they hit the vehicle's owner while trying to steal it in the desert area south of M Resort.

That person died at the scene of the crash, Henderson police say. Their identity and cause of death will be released by the coroner's office.

Meanwhile, the attempted carjacker ran away from the scene and remains outstanding.

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is assisting Henderson Police Department in trying to find them.

Authorities say to avoid the area of Welpman Way and Las Vegas Boulevard South as the scene remains active at this time.

No other information was immediately available.
