Police say a 50-year-old man is dead near Sahara Avenue and Burnham, which is near Eastern Avenue.
The incident was reported shortly before 6 a.m. Thursday.
During a press briefing, police say that the driver left the scene after hitting the pedestrian because he was scared. He came back an hour later, but is still facing hit-and-run charges.
It is not known if the pedestrian was in a crosswalk legally at this time. Police are still investigating the scene.
The Clark County coroner will release the name and age of the pedestrian after relatives have been notified.
This is the 64th traffic-related fatality this year and the second pedestrian to be killed within the last 12 hours.
This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
