LATEST UPDATE: 20-year-old Alexis Gallardo was arrested Tuesday in connection with Saturday's homicide.
Police located the suspect in the 3500 block of Swenson Street, near Desert Inn Road, where he was taken into custody without incident.
Gallardo was booked into the Clark County Detention Center where he faces one charge of murder with a deadly weapon.
UPDATE: The victim has been identified as 24-year-old Ernesto Alejandro Chacon. He was from Las Vegas.
ORIGINAL STORY
A man was shot and killed while he was parking his vehicle early Saturday morning.
Police responded to the shooting around 2:15 a.m. in the 4300 block of South Jones Boulevard, near Rochelle Avenue.
Police found a man with an apparent gunshot wound inside a vehicle in the parking lot. Medical personnel pronounced the man dead at the scene.
Homicide detectives determined the victim was driving his vehicle when one of the passengers shot the victim as he was parking. The suspect fled the scene before officers arrived.
This is the 36th homicide investigated by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department in 2016. The identity of the victim, as well as the cause and manner of death, will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office.
