UPDATE DEC. 20: The Clark County coroner has identified the man in a motorized shopping cart killed by an armored vehicle as 82-year-old Ronald Barrett of Las Vegas. His cause of death was multiple blunt force injuries and his death was ruled as accidental.

LAS VEGAS (KTNV) -- An elderly man in a motorized cart was killed by an armored vehicle at a WinCo Foods parking lot in Las Vegas on Tuesday afternoon, according to police.
The man, who was 87 years old, exited the grocery store near Decatur Boulevard and Tropical Parkway shortly before 2 p.m.

He moved in front of the armored car as it began to pull forward, authorities say. The front of the car hit the cart and knocked both the man and the cart over.
The armored car then continued to drive forward, and police say bystanders tried to get the driver's attention and stop the vehicle.
The man in the cart was transported to UMC Trauma where he died.
The driver of the armored car stayed at the scene and displayed no signs of impairment, according to authorities.
This crash marks the 101st traffic related death in the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department jurisdiction for 2019.
