Some people in a Henderson neighborhood think a new school near Paseo Verde and Stephanie will cause major problems.
The long-anticipated school is expected to ease overcrowding at nearby elementary schools like Twitchell and Vanderburg. Most parents can't wait for it to be built.
However, neighbors living near the school think it's being put up in the wrong place. It will sit just behind Reunion Trails Park, an area that some people think is already too crowded.
"I think it's going to be very dangerous for the kids," said Angela Wilks who lives just across the street from the school.
During a recent public meeting, neighbors had the opportunity to express their concerns to CCSDofficials, but the school is a done deal. It's expected to be built in time for the 2019-2020 school year.
Neighbors said since they can't stop the school, they want to start a conversation about traffic safety.
City of Henderson officials also attended the meeting and said they would evaluate traffic concerns.
