UPDATE: The victim has been identified as a 73-year-old male named Ranato Potente.
ORIGINAL STORY:
A male pedestrian was found dead in the middle of the road at Maryland Parkway and Tropicana Avenue around 5 a.m. Tuesday.
Witnesses say the man was crossing the intersection diagonally when he was struck by a vehicle.
The driver remained on scene. Police say she did not appear to be drunk. Reports indicate that she had a green light, so even if the man was crossing on the crosswalk, he did not have the proper signal to go.
No criminal charges are being filed at this point. The intersection was closed off for several hours while police conducted an investigation.
