One person is dead after being struck by a vehicle near the Rio hotel-casino Saturday evening.
Police say the crash occurred shortly before 7:30 p.m. at South Valley View Boulevard and West Viking Road.
Police said the 31-year-old pedestrian from California was outside the crosswalk when he was struck by a GMC Denali.
The pedestrian was transported to UMC Trauma but he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. The Clark County coroner identified him as Vanharris Haiola of San Diego. He died of multiple blunt force injuries from the crash.
The driver of the GMC remained at the scene.
This is the 105th traffic-related fatality in the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department's jurisdiction in 2016.
